Job Title: Special Assault Unit Criminal Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I, II, or III - DOE

Job Responsibilities:
- Perform complex professional legal tasks within the Criminal Division of the Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
- Initially placed in the Special Assault Unit (SAU) responsible for prosecuting crimes against children and sexual assaults, with eligibility for rotation to other units based on office needs.
- Evaluate, charge, negotiate, and try criminal cases as assigned.
- Prepare and present complex and sensitive cases, serve as unit leads, mentors, and train other Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys.
- Supervise support staff where directed by an Assistant Chief Criminal Deputy or the Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with internal and external groups, including attorneys, support staff, law enforcement agencies, and the community.
- Understand that the paramount duty is to seek justice while managing litigation costs.
- Perform related duties as required.

Education and Experience Information:
- Legal degree from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of four years of experience in the practice of law is required for all levels (I, II, or III), with experience in prosecuting sexual assault cases preferred.
- Must be a member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
- Must be a . citizen and have a valid Washington State Driver's License.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background investigation, including fingerprinting.

Salary Information:

- Monthly: $9, - $16,
- Annually: $111, - $199,
- Total compensation for a full-time fifth-year criminal deputy prosecuting attorney is approximately $150,, including benefits valued at $38,.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, FICA, Medicare, Washington State Paid Family and Medical Leave, PERS (pension), disability insurance, and a limited employer-matching contribution for a deferred compensation plan.
- Paid state and local bar dues, Prosecutor-sponsored CLEs, and potential qualification for school or federal student loan forgiveness programs.
- First-year employees receive 96 hours of annual paid sick leave, 96 hours of annual paid vacation leave, 16 additional hours of annual floating holiday leave, and 11 paid holidays.
- Lateral hires accrue additional vacation leave at a higher rate based on years of service as a deputy prosecuting attorney.
- Eligible for yearly merit awards up to $4, and annual wage increases.
