Job Title: Senior Counsel, Litigation
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Counsel, Litigation at the company will play a crucial role in the Legal & Compliance Department, tasked with supporting the management and oversight of the company's extensive range of litigations, arbitrations, and investigations on a global scale. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the company's response to a wide array of disputed matters, including complex contract disputes, employment claims, regulatory litigation, insurance disputes, and complex subpoenas.
- Actively managing the discovery process, which involves preparing witnesses for testimony and leading eDiscovery efforts to ensure efficiency.
- Providing solution-focused recommendations and legal strategy to business partners and outside counsel to proactively mitigate risk.
- Responding to administrative charges and other employment claims.
- Conducting internal investigations into allegations of compliance breaches or violations of the law or company policy.
- Clearly and concisely communicating complex legal issues to appropriate business and legal stakeholders for consideration and action.
- Supervising and working closely with outside counsel as needed to ensure their work is satisfactory, cost-effective, and timely.
- Undertaking up to 10% annual travel expectations (domestic).
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required.
- A minimum of 5+ years of complex commercial litigation experience with a well-established law firm is necessary.
- Admission to practice in New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania (in-house admission is acceptable).
- Corporate legal department experience at a company in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries is preferred.
- The individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly, and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds.
