Job Title: Liability Trial Attorney

Job Responsibilities:
- Represent commercial insureds of a prestigious and financially stable commercial insurance carrier.
- Prepare and try moderate to high exposure General Liability, Commercial Auto, Products Liability, and employment cases from a diverse caseload.
- Engage in the practice of law in compliance with ethical standards.
- Perform all aspects of insurance defense, including initial investigation, legal analysis, advice, preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents, conducting legal research, and handling pre-trial discovery.
- Prepare for and aggressively manage hearings and trials, and conduct post-trial activities as necessary.
- Demonstrate technical excellence in case handling, trial preparation, and presentation for moderate to high complexity matters.
- Conduct legal analysis, prepare legal pleadings and documents, manage pre-trial discovery, and participate in judicial or administrative hearings and trials.
- Document case files accurately and update relevant information in compliance with best practices.
- Collaborate with claims adjusters to develop case strategies and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Ensure customer service through proactive communication and responding to inquiries.
- Determine and implement alternative dispute resolution techniques using effective mediation and negotiation skills within authority limits.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational opportunities, industry trends, and participating in professional societies.
- Collaborate on matters as needed and mentor lower-level attorneys on legal strategies and use of tools and resources.
- Ensure legal compliance by following state and federal laws and regulations.
- Protect company’s reputation by keeping claims information confidential.

Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor degree with 5 or more years of experience in the litigation area.
- Must be a member in good standing of the Illinois State Bar Association.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe, Lexis, or Westlaw.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation legal environment.
- Possess knowledge of the law and procedure.

- Experience working in a team-based environment and strong collaboration skills.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Member in good standing of the Indiana State Bar Association.

Salary Information:
- Compensation is influenced by factors such as office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
- The proposed salary range is $115, - $140,, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
- Total rewards may include short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases.
- Candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range will be considered based on experience, skills, and education.
