Job Title: Docket Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The Docket Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive support to the Litigation, Labor, and Bankruptcy practices across the law firm. Key duties include:
- Providing first-level support for the firm's automated docket and calendar system, which involves routine data entry and daily maintenance.
- Accurately inputting and verifying information into the docketing system based on incoming communications and requests, including identifying information and deadline dates.
- Determining docket dates from court documents and correspondence, and entering data into the docket/calendar system.
- Responding to inquiries from attorneys and staff regarding litigation deadlines, court scheduling rules, and related docket and calendar issues.
- Offering troubleshooting and support to legal staff concerning the docket/calendar process and policies.
- Reviewing outstanding open dates in the electronic docket system, and following up on or advancing dates in accordance with existing country law and practice procedures.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules, including print and e-filing services.
- Providing periodic and on-demand dockets, status, and maintenance reports.
- Performing due diligence and research, and being familiar with law libraries and Westlaw (Reuters).
- Setting up user profiles in CompuLaw.
- Researching all local, state, federal, and administrative rules as requested.
- Undertaking any other projects and duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Five or more years of docketing experience is preferred.
- Prior legal industry experience is preferred.
Qualifications:
- The individual must demonstrate good judgment and the ability to maintain confidential information.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to recognize and act on important details and deadlines.
- The ability to work under pressure, respond quickly to changing demands, and be self-motivated with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team is crucial.
- The candidate must be very organized and detail-oriented, capable of prioritizing and juggling multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to interact and communicate professionally with all levels of firm personnel.
- A thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and codes of civil procedure, as well as litigation terminology, is necessary.
- A high degree of professionalism is mandatory.
- Experience using CompuLaw Vision calendaring software is preferred.
Salary Information:
The law firm offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The anticipated base salary range for this full-time role is $70,000 - $95,000 per year. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including relevant experience, job-related skills, qualifications, and location. The base salary range reflects the estimated range for new hire salaries for the position. The actual offered base salary will be determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, job-related skills, and qualifications. The pay range is subject to change at any time depending on a variety of internal and external business factors.
