A law firm seeks a dedicated Associate Attorney to join its Riverside, CA, office. This role is ideal for a litigation professional with at least two years of experience defending clients in personal injury matters. The selected candidate will work closely with seasoned partners, managing cases autonomously while benefiting from ongoing mentorship. This in-office position offers hybrid flexibility and a clear pathway to partnership for attorneys who demonstrate commitment, integrity, and a strong desire to learn.
Manage all phases of personal injury litigation, including drafting and filing pleadings, responding to discovery requests, and preparing for trial
Conduct and defend depositions, coordinate expert witness testimony, and evaluate case strengths and weaknesses
Draft, research, and argue law-and-motion matters, such as summary judgment motions and evidentiary disputes
Facilitate mediations and settlement negotiations, advocating for optimal outcomes while protecting client interests
Maintain regular client communication—providing status updates, strategic advice, and case assessments
Collaborate with partners and colleagues to develop case strategies, share insights, and ensure cohesive team performance
Keep meticulous case files, track deadlines, and verify compliance with court rules and internal billing procedures
A minimum of 2 years of defense-oriented litigation experience, with a focus on personal injury claims, insurance defense, and public entity
Proven ability to manage a caseload independently while seeking guidance on complex issues
Strong legal research and writing capabilities, including the ability to craft persuasive briefs and motions
Exceptional verbal communication skills, including courtroom presentations and client counseling
Demonstrated teamwork mentality and willingness to contribute positively to the firm culture
Exposure to representing or defending public entities (., municipalities, joint powers authorities) is a plus
Residency within commuting distance of Riverside, CA (out-of-state candidates will not be considered)
Ability to work primarily in-office, with occasional hybrid scheduling as needed
Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school
Active membership in the California State Bar, in good standing
Sharp analytical aptitude for evaluating case merits and crafting effective litigation strategies
Proficiency in drafting pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, and settlement agreements
Skilled at conducting depositions, examining witnesses, and presenting oral arguments
Strong organizational talents and attention to detail are required to manage multiple cases and deadlines
Client-focused approach with an ability to explain legal concepts clearly and empathetically
Collaborative mindset to work seamlessly with partners, associates, and support staff
