Job Title: Senior Associate, Compensation and Benefits Tax (Transaction Tax)
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and delivery of quality tax planning approaches, ensuring timely and responsive services and work products that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Conduct compensation due diligence, including reviewing equity agreements, CIC plans, golden parachute calculations, deferred compensation plans, tax returns, financials, and other documentation to evaluate potential tax risks and opportunities.
- Perform benefits due diligence, reviewing retirement plans, Section 125 plans, discrimination testing, Forms 5500, and determination letters for IRS and DOL compliance to identify potential tax exposures and opportunities.
- Review payroll tax treatment and withholding policies, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with income tax and FICA on various forms of compensation and worker classification.
- Evaluate compensation and benefits aspects of financial models, purchase agreements, and structuring calculations.
- Take ownership of assigned workstreams, ensuring the creation and preservation of relevant diligence work products, timely review by supervisors, and proactive response to workflow changes.
- Coordinate with federal, state, local, and international tax team members, as well as financial and operational due diligence team members, to deliver high-quality integrated work products.
- Support management of client relationships by communicating and responding to client expectations, gathering relevant engagement data, and tailoring project deliverables accordingly.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
- Advanced Degree/Certification is preferred, such as CPA, JD, or LLM.
- A minimum of 3 years of compensation and benefits tax experience or 3 years of tax due diligence experience is required.
- Prior experience with Mergers and Acquisitions is preferred.
- Strong writing, analytical, research, and organizational skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products, with an emphasis on Excel, is required.
- Strong communication skills and a strong sense of personal motivation, as well as the ability to work in a team, are essential.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment is required.
Salary Information:
- The salary range is $85,000 - $105,000 annually, dependent on several variables including education, experience, skills, and geography.
