Probate Attorney The candidate should have 2 years of related experience and all applicants must be barred to practice law in the state of Maryland. A lawyer, as a member of the legal profession, is a representative of clients, an officer of the legal system, and a public citizen having special responsibility for the quality of justice. As a representative of clients, a lawyer performs various functions. As advisor, a lawyer provides a client with an informed understanding of the client's legal rights and obligations and explains their practical implications. As advocate, a lawyer zealously asserts the client's position under the rules of the adversary system. As negotiator, a lawyer seeks a result advantageous to the client but consistent with requirements of honest dealing with others. As evaluator, a lawyer acts by examining a client's legal affairs and reporting about them to the client or to others. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Conducts initial Probate (Estate Administration) Meetings with prospective clients; Monitors and manages the progress of all Estate Administrations within the firm; Timely files all petitions, claims, accounting's with the appropriate probate court; Responsible for reporting to the client and at team meetings all upcoming probate due dates; Completes all requested template changes in a timely manner; Completes all requested research and prepares memos/opinion letters as needed; Is responsible for firm presentations - community, professional, firm workshops and private workshops.
