Job Title: Patent Attorney II, Biologics
Job Responsibilities:
- Undertake and lead core and some complex patent activities such as patent drafting and prosecution, patentability and freedom to operate analysis, IP due diligences, litigation, and contract IP terms.
- Manage a patent portfolio relating to a key product, multiple products, or other strategic assets.
- Apply expertise in national patent law and practice and possess a superior working knowledge of foreign patent law and practice.
- Understand and apply other forms of protection relating to exclusivity as required.
- Comprehend the business of the company as part of the healthcare industry and the role of IP in the business at that level.
- Build relationships and counsel senior colleagues and key Business Partners on complex and high value/impact IP-related matters and represent IP on respective boards/meetings as needed.
- Manage patent and other exclusivity litigation with some independence according to the agreed process.
- Contribute to management of budget through careful planning, management of external counsels, and applying cost containment strategies.
- Contribute to implementation and apply IP policies and guidelines.
- Report technical complaints, adverse events, or special case scenarios related to company products within 24 hours of receipt.
- Distribute marketing samples where applicable.
Education and Experience Information:
- . degree with admission to at least one state bar and registered to practice before US Patent Office.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or equivalent; MS/PhD, or equivalent, in biology/biologics or pharmaceutical science is preferred.
- 1-2+ years exposure to the drug discovery and development processes utilized at pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology companies.
- 7+ years’ experience as a patent practitioner in a law firm or in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is required.
- Strong scientific background in biological sciences, preferably including direct lab experience.
- Expertise in local (US) and PCT law, filing process and prosecution practice; detailed understanding of counterpart European patent law and other major global patent systems.
- Strong customer-service experience and focus to build and sustain effective partnerships with key stakeholders and project teams.
- Experience integrating global outlook and management of product lifecycle into decision-making process.

Salary Information:
- The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $185, - $344, USD per year. Adjustments to pay ranges may occur due to fluctuations in the job market.
- Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- The total compensation package may also include other elements such as a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave) may also be included, dependent on the position offered.
