Intellectual Property Associate
Job Title: Intellectual Property Associate
Job Responsibilities:
- Interview inventors and prepare patent applications.
- Conduct all stages of US and foreign patent prosecution, including ex parte appeals.
- Conduct validity, infringement, and freedom to operate studies, including preparing associated legal opinion letters.
- Provide legal counsel on intellectual property matters, focusing on patent matters, and including basic licensing, trademark, and copyright matters.
- Opportunities to work on and develop skills in licensing and litigation.
- Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff to ensure effective case management.
- Stay abreast of developments in intellectual property law and contribute to the law firm's knowledge base.
Education and Experience Information:
- Two to five years of patent prosecution experience is required.
- JD from an accredited law school is necessary.
- A technical background, preferably with a BS/MS in computer science or electrical engineering, is preferred.
- Registered practitioner at the US Patent and Trademark Office or at least Patent Bar Eligible.
- Strong research and writing skills are essential.
- Superior analytical skills are required.
- Familiarity with intellectual property law and patent litigation procedures is necessary.
- Litigation experience is a bonus but not required.
