Job Title: E-Discovery Technology Project Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The E-Discovery Technology Project Manager is a critical member of the department within a law firm, tasked with the comprehensive management of the entire lifecycle of legal cases. This role involves developing and adhering to workflows that ensure successful outcomes in the handling of electronic discovery data. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating closely with legal teams to develop and maintain effective strategies for handling data from initial collection through to final review and production.
- Building, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex E-Discovery databases, and overseeing the loading of new or updated data, images, and native files for legal team review.
- Managing large, diverse collections of emails, images, and native files, alongside database management, with a strong emphasis on quality control.
- Providing application support within the department and assisting legal teams with problems and questions throughout the process.
- Training attorneys and paralegals in the effective use of E-Discovery Technology software.
- Handling frequent document production, including all pre- and post-production activities, and maintaining Chain of Custody for electronic media.
- Mastering the use of all E-Discovery Technology tools employed by the firm.
- Communicating frequently and effectively with legal teams and vendors.
- Managing complete case activity involving all aspects of Electronic Discovery, including case data management, document retention, and production of data.
- Developing strategies for efficient handling of discovery and production data, and building and maintaining datasets using advanced document processing and review tools.
- Assisting legal teams in analyzing and presenting data trends and patterns using Early Case Assessment and Advanced Analytics.
- Advising legal teams on proper methods of data collection, preservation, processing, production, and retention, including attending Rule 26(f) discovery planning conferences.
- Overseeing work performed by Specialists and Analysts, and providing hands-on processing of email collections, native files, and image collections when necessary.
- Maintaining back-end server and folder structures, and assisting with the identification and archiving of old case data.
- Participating in all aspects of document production processing and maintaining stringent quality control checks of data.
- Providing training, application support, and troubleshooting assistance to users of varied abilities.
- Assisting legal team requests, including capturing and editing audio and video.
- Collaborating with other E-Discovery Technology team members and assisting with trial support.
- Writing clear, concise directions and summaries for legal team members and providing timely status updates.
- Testing existing and new software, and participating in vendor demonstrations.
- Recording daily time worked and pursuing additional education and training in E-Discovery Technology topics.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant E-Discovery Technology or Litigation Support experience is necessary, preferably within a law firm environment, though vendor experience is also considered valuable.
- A strong understanding of law firm culture and the demands placed on legal teams is essential.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) certification is highly desirable.
- A comprehensive understanding of the full EDRM lifecycle, including both electronic and paper discovery, and E-Discovery Technology best practices is required.
- Considerable hands-on experience with E-Discovery Technology processing software, review platforms, load file creation, and manipulation is necessary.
- Strong experience with software such as kCura Relativity, Nuix, LexisNexis Concordance, and others is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to train individuals and small groups, and to prepare training materials.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control, even under pressure, is important.
- Flexibility in schedule with some off-hour availability is expected.
- Experience with advanced technologies such as Early Case Assessment, Advanced Analytics, Predictive Coding, and Concept Clustering is a plus.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position varies based on factors such as experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and market demands. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is between $135,000 and $155,000, applicable to various locations including Atlantic City, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Morristown, New York, Princeton, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, . It is not typical for individuals to be hired at or near the top of the range.
