Job Title: Tax Managing Director, Specialized Tax Services Partnerships
Job Responsibilities:
1. Tax Specialization:
- Maintain and develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues in partnership taxation.
- Organize and conduct external CPE training sessions in the area of specialization at least once per year.
- Train and mentor associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Provide oversight and review of partnership capital account maintenance and relevant computational services.
2. Research:
- Identify when research is needed and clearly frame issues for analysis.
- Identify complex issues and provide research methodology for efficient processes.
- Train associates, senior associates, and managers on research skills.
- Involve firm specialists as appropriate.
3. Tax Consulting:
- Develop, recommend, and implement methods to maximize client benefits by decreasing taxes.
- Apply tax knowledge and industry knowledge to recommend solutions.
- Implement applicable company strategies.
- Manage client relationships and expectations.
4. Strategy Development:
- Introduce and develop new ideas to improve client or company positions.
- Research and implement tax strategies, experimenting with promising new ideas.
- Suggest improvements to previous work products or approaches.
- Lead marketing campaigns if applicable.
- Present complex strategies to clients and prospective clients.
5. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise associates, senior associates, and managers on all projects.
- Review work prepared by team members and provide feedback.
- Train team members on current software tools.
- Act as a career advisor to team members.
- Schedule and manage workloads of team members.
- Provide verbal and written performance feedback.
Education and Experience Information:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for majors in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- Experience:
- Ten or more years of relevant experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services required.
- Specialized partnership experience required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Private equity experience at both fund and portfolio company levels preferred.
- Experience with Up-C tax receivable agreements preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) required.
- Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role preferred.
Software:
- Experience with tax research tools such as CCH Wolters Kluwer, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, and BNA preferred.
- Experience with systems like Oracle, Thomson Reuters, ONESOURCE, Longview, Corptax, or GoSystems preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
