Associate Attorney The candidate will practice in all areas including medical malpractice, dental malpractice, and other personal injury, including legal malpractice, products and premises liability and automobile accidents. Responsibilities include drafting complaints, motions, pleadings and discovery; medical and legal research; preparation of documents for depositions, court hearings, trials and mediations; and all other aspects of litigation. Drafting complaints, motions, pleadings, discovery and discovery responses. Drafting correspondence. Legal and medical research as needed, including research on defendants, medical professionals and medical materials. Managing extensive case files (electronic and hard copy) according to firm protocol, including work calendars, time-keeping, medical records, pleadings, correspondence, emails, faxes, etc. Communication with medical experts, including interviews, provision of case materials and case preparation. Coordinating and conducting client and witness interviews. Document preparation for court hearings, depositions, mediations and trials. Client and potential client communication both to obtain and convey information. Coordinating production, filing and service of case documents and pleadings. Other duties as assigned. Additional opportunities such as taking depositions or court appearances commensurate with experience and expertise. Bar membership in Virginia is required. Additional licenses in either the District of Columbia or Maryland are a plus. Must have Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school. Current bar membership in Virginia or immediate ability to waive into the Virginia Bar. Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written required. Must have proficiency in such technology and applications as: Microsoft Office Suite; Adobe Acrobat; Lexis Advance, Westlaw, and alternatives; Time Matters or other time tracking software. Should preferably have 2+ years experience. Significant interest in personal injury litigation desired. Additional bar membership in the District of Columbia or Maryland a plus.
