Job Title: RFE Associate Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
The RFE Associate Attorney plays a critical role in the law firm's mission to provide immigration solutions, particularly in challenging cases. The primary responsibilities include preparing and overseeing responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs), Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs), and Notices of Intent to Revoke (NOIRs) concerning family and humanitarian-based immigration applications. This position serves as a legal resource for both staff attorneys and non-attorney team members, providing guidance and support.
Key duties include:
- Reviewing, analyzing, and responding to USCIS correspondence such as RFEs, NOIDs, and NOIRs.
- Offering direct support to non-attorney RFE team members, addressing legal escalations and case-specific inquiries.
- Identifying legal trends and policy changes to improve the quality and consistency of responses.
- Reviewing and editing RFE responses and completing additional legal tasks to help the legal team achieve operational goals.
- Providing onboarding and ongoing training to RFE Staff Attorneys and non-attorney team members involved in legal document preparation.
- Offering continuous support and training to RFE Staff Attorneys.
- Auditing the work product of RFE Staff Attorneys and non-attorney team members.
- Communicating directly with clients to provide legal advice, answer legal questions, or handle client escalations when necessary.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the RFE Associate Attorney position should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with a state bar.
- A minimum of three years of experience handling humanitarian and family-based immigration applications, including but not limited to VAWA, T-Visa, U-Visa, Medical DA, I-130, and Adjustment of Status.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is considered an advantage.
- Prior experience with RFEs, NOIDs, and NOIRs is beneficial.
- An advocacy-focused approach to client representation.
- Strong teamwork skills and a willingness to support other team members as needed.
