Law Firm Seeking Energy Project Finance Attorney in the US

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a global AmLaw 50 full-service law firm, is seeking two senior-level project finance attorneys to join their Energy, Infrastructure and Project Finance team. The positions can be based in any of their US offices, with two open positions available.

This includes leading utilities, pipeline operators, municipalities, independent power producers, commercial banks, equity and tax investors, and EPC contractors. The team also provides legal assistance to energy technology companies on their most important matters.

Substantive Responsibility and Client Contact

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced project finance attorneys to represent clients in a growing industry and have substantive responsibility with client contact. The selected candidates will work on a variety of transactions related to the development, acquisition, and financing of renewable energy projects. This includes representing sponsors and financing parties.

Experience in Renewable Energy Projects Preferred

The ideal candidates should have at least five years of experience in the energy industry, with a strong emphasis on project finance work. This can include experience in either debt work, such as construction debt and term debt, or tax equity and/or M&A work, such as tax equity partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions/sales of renewable energy projects. Familiarity with project development and operation contracts, such as EPC Contracts, Supply Agreements, and Offtake Agreements, is also preferred.

Requirements and Details

To be considered for this position, candidates must have at least 5 years of experience at a large law firm with a national reputation or in a comparable in-house counsel role. Strong academic credentials from a top-tier law school are also required. The selected candidates must have excellent oral communication, writing, research, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to manage junior associates and work effectively as part of a team.

Salary Information

The pay range for this position is $365,000 - $455,000 per year. Please note that this is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.
