Job Title: Assistant Attorney General (Attorney II) - Internet Crimes Against Children
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Attorney General (Attorney II) position within the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit of the South Carolina Attorney General's Office involves significant responsibilities aimed at safeguarding children from online exploitation. Under limited supervision, the attorney will handle all legal work related to crimes against children facilitated through technology, including the possession and distribution of child pornography and the criminal solicitation of minors. Key responsibilities include:
- Advising law enforcement agents on possible criminal violations and reviewing law enforcement reports and case information.
- Assisting law enforcement in ICAC investigations and preparing cases for county grand jury consideration and final disposition.
- Preparing appropriate indictments to be reviewed and approved by the Attorney General and preparing cases for trial.
- Seeking timely and appropriate resolution of all cases.
- Making court appearances and trial presentations on behalf of the **Members Only** and the SC Attorney General’s Office.
- Preparing orders and other necessary documentation to obtain subscriber information from Internet and electronic service providers.
- Assisting in training and making presentations to law enforcement agencies, local community groups, schools, or related interest groups on ICAC issues.
- Responding to citizen inquiries.
- Performing other related duties as requested by the Attorney General, Chief Deputy Attorney General, and supervising attorney.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate degree and be a member in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. They must satisfy Rule 403 requirements. Additional requirements include:
- Promptly informing the supervisor of any issues, problems, or suggestions related to job duties.
- The position may require overnight travel and the transportation of files.
- A preferred qualification is an above-average understanding of computers, software, and technology beyond MS-Office and related software.
- Knowledge of South Carolina laws, including general case, statutory and common law, and judicial and quasi-judicial procedures and rules of guidance.
- The ability to interpret and apply laws in court decisions, analyze facts, evidence, and legal instruments, and express conclusions and arguments clearly and logically.
There is an expectation for some travel as part of the role.
Salary Information:
The hiring range for this position is between $66,400 and $92,900 per annum. Candidates are required to confirm their willingness to accept a salary within this range during the application process.
