Job Title: Program Manager

Job Responsibilities:
- Program Management: The Program Manager will share responsibility for the success of organization programs in the Midwest Region, particularly in Missouri and Illinois. This includes ensuring the achievement of programmatic objectives and goals such as recruitment, training delivery, and service provision, in collaboration with the national team.
- Technical Assistance: Serve as the primary point of contact with designated public defender partners, fostering credible relationships with Advocate supervisors. Provide advice and best practices on integrating collaborative defense and organization programs into office practices.
- Advocate Supervision: Provide one-on-one support to Advocates for their personal and professional development. Ensure Advocates meet performance expectations and work with teams to integrate best practices for the organization program. Organize regular trainings or workshops, in collaboration with office supervisors, to meet local learning needs.
- Partnership Development: Collaborate with Advocates and office supervisors to identify and build relationships with legal aid providers, community-based organizations, and government agencies that can benefit clients.
- Community Awareness: Maintain an understanding of local dynamics and contexts affecting clients, including developments in criminal and civil legal systems or poverty alleviation efforts. Assist Advocates in understanding the communities they serve.
- National Resources: Contribute to defining the Advocate role and experience. Gather best practices and contribute to national resources and programming to enhance Advocate practices. Participate in the organization’s annual and ongoing training events.

Education and Experience Information:
- A commitment to the organization's mission and vision of collaborative, client-centered representation for low-income individuals involved in the criminal legal system.
- A dedication to serving racially or socioeconomically marginalized communities.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant full-time work experience; a JD or MSW can substitute for years of experience.
- Preference for candidates with a JD or MSW.
- Prior experience working within a public defender’s office or a civil legal aid provider is strongly preferred, especially in offices with collaborative or client-centered practices.
- Experience in supervising or coaching others is preferred, which may include roles such as a teaching assistant, faculty member, resident advisor, or overseeing interns.
- Candidates should reside in Missouri or be willing to relocate, with a deep familiarity with the state's legal system, government agencies, and other institutions frequently interacted with by low-income individuals.
- Ability to travel for two to three days approximately once per month to visit programs and participate in team meetings (25-30% travel).
- Experience working remotely with distributed teams and/or in a start-up environment.

Salary Information:
- This is a full-time, salaried position with a salary range of $75,000 - $95,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
- The organization offers a benefits package that includes employer-paid medical and dental coverage, a 401k program, reimbursement for Bar or other professional dues, among other programs.
- Employees work remotely with flexible hours, and the organization supports rest and self-care with unlimited sick leave and vacation, 12 office holidays, and a year-end rest period.
