Job Title: Tax Senior, Specialized Tax Services Partnerships
Job Responsibilities:
As a Tax Senior in the Specialized Tax Services Partnerships department, the incumbent will be responsible for leveraging basic research skills and their educational background to provide advisory services to clients regarding the tax implications of business objectives. This includes handling partnership-specific items such as section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations, and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations. The role also involves understanding potential partnership taxation issues and assisting in the preparation of partnership-specific computations. The Tax Senior will engage in marketing and business development activities, process improvement, team-building initiatives, maintaining client relationships, and providing guidance to staff.
Key duties include:
- Developing an in-depth understanding of partnership taxation issues and opportunities.
- Participating in organizing and conducting external CPE training sessions in the area of specialization.
- Training and mentoring interns and associates, including on the use of software tools.
- Identifying when research is needed and working with leadership to frame issues for research.
- Providing research methodology for efficient research processes.
- Assisting in developing, recommending, and implementing methods to maximize client benefits, particularly in reducing current and future taxes.
- Collaborating with leadership to recommend solutions and manage client expectations.
- Participating in scheduling and managing the workload of interns and associates.
- Supervising the day-to-day workload of interns and reviewing work prepared by interns and associates.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for majors in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- A Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred.
Experience:
- Two or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience is required.
- Specialized partnership experience is preferred.
- Private equity experience at both fund and portfolio company levels is preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is preferred.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is preferred.
Software:
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software is preferred.
