The **Members Only** offers a variety of volunteer programs for individuals like you to gain practical work experience and an understanding of the judicial system.
About the Court
The Los Angeles Superior Court is the largest unified trial court in the United States, with over 580 judges and commissioners working in 36 facilities within the Court's 12 judicial districts. With an annual budget of more than $1 billion, the Court serves over 10 million residents in Los Angeles County, making it one of the most populous counties in the nation.
About the Programs
The volunteer programs at the Court are designed to provide participants with valuable work experience while familiarizing them with court procedures and operations. Participants have the opportunity to network with professionals in the field and gain a comprehensive understanding of the judicial system.
Paralegal Program
The Paralegal program offers participants the opportunity to work on cases involving child support, spousal support, and health insurance issues. Participants will gain experience in legal document preparation and have access to networking opportunities. This program is open to students currently enrolled in paralegal schools, colleges, and universities throughout Los Angeles County, as well as individuals who have completed a Paralegal certificate program.
Court Administration & Courthouse Operations
This program provides participants with experience in court administration, including tasks such as data entry, file organization, and customer service. It also offers an overview of Court processes and procedures.
Judicial and Courtroom Operations
Participants in this program will assist judges and commissioners in the courtroom, gaining firsthand experience in the judicial process. Tasks may include preparing case files, observing court proceedings, and conducting legal research.
Family Court Services Mediation
This program is open to individuals with ASCW or AMFT accreditation and offers experience in mediating family law cases, such as child custody and visitation issues. Participants will receive training and support from experienced mediators.
