Job Title: Fall Judicial Intern
Job Responsibilities:
The **Members Only** offers judicial internships for law students who will be rising second- and third-year students. These positions are unpaid and are available during the spring, summer, and fall sessions. The internships may be pursued as volunteer opportunities or for academic credit. The primary responsibilities of the judicial interns include:
- Improving research and writing skills through hands-on experience.
- Gaining a behind-the-scenes understanding of the workings of an intermediate court of appeals.
- Conducting research on factual and legal issues relevant to cases.
- Reviewing appellate records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Performing substantive citation checks to verify legal references.
- Writing memoranda of law on various legal topics and case issues.
- Engaging in discussions with judges and the court’s attorneys regarding the memoranda.
- Observing judges’ discussions on case issues that are submitted.
- Attending oral arguments to gain insights into courtroom procedures.
- Observing the post-submission resolution of legal issues raised during oral arguments.
It is important to note that any legal work, whether paid or unpaid, that an intern wishes to perform for anyone other than the Court during the internship is subject to a conflicts check and must receive approval from the Court.
