Job Title: Spring Judicial Intern

Job Responsibilities:
The Spring Judicial Intern position at the organization provides law students with an opportunity to enhance their research and writing skills while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the operations of an intermediate court of appeals. The primary responsibilities of the intern include:
- Conducting research on factual and legal issues relevant to cases.
- Reviewing appellate records to assist in case analysis.
- Performing substantive citation checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of legal references.
- Writing memoranda of law to communicate findings and analyses.
- Discussing these memoranda with judges and the organization’s attorneys to gain insights and feedback.
- Observing judges' discussions on case issues that are submitted for review.
- Attending oral arguments to witness courtroom procedures and legal advocacy.
- Observing the post-submission resolution of legal issues that arise during oral arguments.

Any additional legal work, whether paid or unpaid, that an intern wishes to undertake during the internship for any party other than the organization, is subject to a conflicts check and must receive prior approval from the organization.

Education and Experience Information:
The internship is open to law students who are classified as rising second- and third-year students. This indicates that applicants must currently be enrolled in law school and have completed at least their first year of legal studies by the time the internship begins.

Salary Information:
The position is an unpaid internship. However, it can be pursued as a volunteer opportunity or for academic credit, depending on the student’s preference and the requirements of their law school.
