Job Title: Bilingual Immigration Attorney

Job Responsibilities:
- Commitment to the organization’s mission, values, and vision.
- Provide direct immigration legal services and representation to immigrants before various administrative and judicial forums including USCIS, EOIR, BIA, and District Court. This may involve representation, facilitating self-representation, obtaining continuances for case assessments, and referring cases to other attorneys when necessary.
- Conduct client interviews using a trauma-informed approach.
- Document all work in the Legal Server case management software.
- Organize and conduct outreach and educational presentations to community groups.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders including non-profit agencies, government officials, government employees, and community leaders.
- Travel within the service area and attend meetings or conferences in other parts of North Carolina.
- Adhere to program priorities and case handling policies, procedures, and standards of practice, maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.
- Stay informed about developments in immigration law and disseminate relevant information to staff, volunteer attorneys, and the public.
- Collaborate with volunteers, including volunteer attorneys, on a regular basis.
- Assist in fundraising efforts in coordination with the organization’s Development Team.

Education and Experience:
- Must be a licensed attorney in the United States (being licensed in North Carolina is preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience in immigration law is preferred, but not required.
- A demonstrated commitment to serving low-income individuals and communities.
- Demonstrated socio-economic and cultural sensitivity.
- Willingness to assist upset or ill individuals regularly.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well within teams and independently.
- Fluency in English and Spanish (both verbal and written) is required, with the ability to interpret and translate between the two languages.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Salary Information:
- The salary ranges from $63,901 to $115,022 annually, depending on experience. Additional bilingual language skills applicable to this role may qualify for up to an additional $3,000 upon completing a language assessment test.
- The salary scale is predetermined based on years of relevant professional work experience to ensure equity in pay.
- The organization is a Living Wage Certified Employer.
