Litigation Practice Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Practice Assistant will be responsible for supporting paralegals and attorneys in various matters within state and federal courts. The role involves performing a broad range of substantive billable and nonbillable tasks directly with paralegals and attorneys on complex litigation matters across different industries. Specific duties include:
- Maintaining and monitoring court deadlines for assigned cases
- Supporting paralegals and attorneys with daily tasks such as document organization, maintenance, and production
- Tracking and managing discovery, including document productions
- Participating in case strategy meetings
- Handling routine calls and correspondence with courts, outside attorneys, and clients
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate should possess well-developed critical thinking and organizational skills, along with the ability to meet deadlines. A strong sense of accountability, ownership over projects and responsibilities, proactive issue resolution, and teamwork are essential attributes. Candidates should be technologically proficient and open to learning new software. A two- or four-year degree and a paralegal certificate are highly desired, although relevant work experience may be substituted for educational qualifications. Flexibility to work overtime when necessary to meet business needs is also required.
