Job Title: Immigration Paralegal

Job Responsibilities:

- Familiarity with all types of employment-based immigration practices and J1 program administration.
- Collaborate in a team environment while building knowledge of the law firm, client, and immigration processes.
- Under attorney direction, lead client communications for case intake, document collection, and issue troubleshooting.
- Provide guidance on software systems and case processing to clients and foreign nationals as directed.
- Handle cases competently while developing a broader knowledge base and increased independence.
- Evaluate cases, communicate concerns, and proactively escalate issues if necessary.
- Draft petition forms and support letters, and assemble supporting documents for attorney review.
- Run weekly case reports for attorneys using INSZoom Reports and may be requested to run client reports for attorney calls with clients from INSZoom Reports.
- Competent use of case management and other reporting tools and technologies to manage data and information.
- Manage the status of all filed applications and petitions per policy and utilize the law firm’s document, data management, and accounting/billing systems to prepare, monitor, and record all work aspects.
- Contact government agencies as directed to obtain information regarding potential process delays or problems and communicate the same to the attorney.
- Conduct pertinent research as necessary to gather information, such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc.
- Handle multiple assignments and/or deadlines while maintaining a professional demeanor and seek assistance timely when needed.
- Offer assistance to others when needed.
- Maintain an exceptional client service attitude and professional demeanor at all times.
- Show initiative, flexibility, resiliency, and a willingness to adapt to change.
- Take ownership and complete tasks without the need for supervision.
- Maintain a positive, “can do” attitude when dealing with clients, co-workers, and attorneys.
- Contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork and congeniality.

Education and Experience Information:

- Must have 3+ years of J1 program experience; experience as a Responsible Officer or Alternate Responsible Officer is preferred.
- Experience preparing H-1B, L-1, TN, and PERM applications, preferably in a large law firm environment.
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, LawLogix, or INSZoom and a document management system is necessary.
- Outstanding case management and organizational skills are required.
- Strong business writing skills and attention to detail are essential.

The hourly rate range for this position is - . Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, location, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
