Job Title: Associate – Privacy & Cybersecurity

Job Responsibilities:
The Associate in the Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice group will have front-line responsibility in advising clients on various US-focused privacy and data-related compliance issues. The key responsibilities include:
- Leading projects and directly interfacing with clients.
- Conducting compliance gap assessments.
- Developing comprehensive compliance programs.
- Drafting privacy policies, business-facing guidance, data subject request (DSR) procedures, incident response plans, tabletop exercises, contracting templates, playbooks, and providing advice on data sale/sharing/targeted advertising.
- Assisting clients in determining priorities, assessing risks, and implementing compliance programs.
- The role will largely involve working one-on-one with supervising partners and may occasionally involve supervising paralegals and junior lawyers.

Education and Experience Information:
- Candidates must have 4-6 years of practical data privacy counseling experience.
- Specific experience in providing practical advice and implementing state privacy laws such as CCPA, WA MHMD, and other equivalent state privacy laws is required.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in adtech, cookies/online trackers, and knowledge of TCPA, CANSPAM, DAA/NAI/IAB self-regulatory rules.
- Experience in the financial and health/life sciences sectors is strongly preferred, including knowledge of GLBA, CalFIPA, FCRA, insurance privacy, FTC/CFPB rules, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and state health privacy laws.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication abilities are necessary.
- The candidate should be a self-starter capable of prioritizing workload with competing demands, displaying good judgment, working well under pressure, and framing advice/analysis practically based on risks.
- Must be capable of working in a collaborative, congenial environment and have proven ability to independently manage matters or meaningful segments of large/complex matters.
- Candidates with large law firm experience are preferred, although boutique specialists may be considered.
- Certified Information Privacy Professionals are preferred but not mandatory, with certifications such as CIPP-US, CIPT, and CIPM being advantageous.
- Must be admitted to practice in the jurisdiction for which they are applying.

Salary Information:
The expected pay range for Associates is based on class compensation years:
- 2025/2024 Class: $225,000
- 2023 Class: $235,000
- 2022 Class: $260,000
- 2021 Class: $310,000
- 2020 Class: $365,000
- 2019 Class: $390,000
- 2018 Class: $420,000
- 2017 and more senior class: $435,000
