Job Title: Leave Law Compliance Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop content addressing new compliance legislation for distribution internally and to clients. This includes educational webinars, seminars, alerts, white papers, checklists, and FAQs.
- Partner with other members of the Compliance team to ensure that Compliance portal content is current.
- Collaborate with brokers, managing directors, and service teams on key accounts, including attending meetings and participating in conference calls as per established protocols.
- Engage with local operational leads to assess local client compliance needs and account team training needs.
- Contribute significantly to developing Compliance content for the national Compliance team, for client distribution, and to educate staff on compliance issues.
- Provide timely daily compliance question and answer support for local employee benefits practice based on regional or office assignments.
- Develop processes and a templates library to support client service teams, updating them as needed.
- Participate in prospect meetings per established National Compliance engagement protocol to present Compliance capabilities.
- Act as a subject matter expert, presenting at conferences, seminars, webinars, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Juris Doctor preferred.
- Four or more years of related work experience in the employee benefits and compliance areas.
- Experience drafting white papers on benefits compliance issues and written legal analysis.
- Experience in public speaking, including developing and delivering benefits compliance training content.
- Active state bar license preferred.
Skills:
- Command of employee benefits laws and regulations, including a practical understanding of how they relate to benefit program administration with specific knowledge of the ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and Medicare.
- Understanding of regulatory agencies and rulemaking processes that can impact employee benefits.
- Basic understanding of leaves of absence and time off policy requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex topics in a practical way and provide practical answers to client questions.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and timely deliver content in keeping with established processes.
- Ability to lead or take direction, as appropriate.
