Job Responsibilities

The Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney is tasked with prosecuting specific types of cases such as crimes against persons and serious felonies. Key responsibilities include:

- Representing the State of Idaho in criminal cases by performing tasks such as attending crime scenes, advising law enforcement during investigations, obtaining search warrants, screening cases, deciding on filing charges, meeting with crime victims, organizing case files, preparing evidence, securing witnesses, preparing for jury trials, presenting cases to juries, and responding to post-trial motions.
- Filing and prosecuting probation violations and responding to legal questions from law enforcement agencies.
- Representing the State of Idaho in post-conviction relief petitions, filing necessary legal documents, and presenting cases in court.
- Directing staff in the preparation of legal documents like pleadings, motions, and memorandums.
- Protecting the rights of victims and those criminally accused.
- Providing training to law enforcement officers, other prosecutors, child welfare advocates, and court personnel.
- Conducting legal research and interacting with opposing counsel, judges, office staff, other agencies, and law enforcement offices.
- Managing time effectively, meeting deadlines, and setting project priorities.
- Communicating and coordinating with co-workers to ensure effective office operations.
- Interacting professionally with county employees, witnesses, victims, defendants, law enforcement officials, and the general public.
- Assisting other prosecutors in the office on cases when necessary and acting as a special prosecutor in cases in other counties.
- Attending Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association training to comply with continuing legal education requirements.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the **Members Only**.

Education and Experience Information

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
- Graduation from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association with a Juris Doctorate Degree.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Idaho.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Eligible for membership in the Idaho Prosecuting Attorney's Association.

Salary Information

The salary for the Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney position is $100,000 plus, depending on experience (DOE).
