Job Title: Deputy Prosecuting Attorney-Civil
Job Responsibilities:
The Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Civil Division, is tasked with a range of legal responsibilities primarily focused on civil cases. The essential duties include:
- Prosecuting civil cases such as child protection cases, civil asset forfeitures, involuntary civil commitments, and other civil matters.
- Providing legal advice to elected officials and county employees on various legal issues, including employment law, contract interpretation, federal regulations, and planning and zoning.
- Negotiating and reviewing contracts for county business, including professional service contracts, construction contracts, and general goods and services contracts.
- Prosecuting forfeiture cases by screening cases, conducting trials, and negotiating settlements.
- Offering legal advice on probate, guardianships, foreclosures, federal bankruptcy, county assistance, administrative proceedings, personnel matters, tax appeal hearings, and more.
- Representing the County in legal actions or litigation such as probate, Tax Commission appeal hearings, and Department of Labor appeal hearings.
- Directing staff in the preparation of legal documents, including pleadings, forms, orders, contracts, and other paperwork.
- Responding to legal questions from law enforcement agencies and drafting necessary documents.
- Interacting, mediating, and negotiating with opposing counsel, judges, office staff, other agencies, and law enforcement offices.
- Drafting and reviewing county ordinances and zoning ordinances and conducting necessary enforcement proceedings.
- Managing time and schedules, meeting deadlines, and setting project priorities.
- Responding to inquiries from Commissioners, county employees, and citizens in a timely manner.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and complying with Idaho Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Performing duties in accordance with **Members Only** policies and procedures.
- Attending Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association training to comply with continuing legal education requirements of the Idaho State Bar and participating in various committee or panel meetings.
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires the following education and experience:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
- Graduation from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association with a Juris Doctorate Degree.
- License to practice law in the State of Idaho.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant legal experience.
- Eligibility for membership in the Idaho Prosecuting Attorney’s Association.
Salary Information:
The annual salary for the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney-Civil position is $100,000+, depending on experience (DOE). The position offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
