Job Title: Insurance Defense Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire legal process, including investigation, discovery, trial preparation, and court proceedings.
- Represent clients in depositions, site inspections, court hearings, trials, and negotiate settlements as required.
- Develop appropriate legal strategies for all stages of litigation by researching applicable laws and findings.
- Share legal strategies with claims representatives and insured clients.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with claims representatives and insured clients.
- Conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments as needed.
- Develop and render clear, unambiguous legal opinions and strategies.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings and motions.
- Provide guidance and direction to junior attorneys, paralegals, or law clerks.
- Collaborate with Home Office Legal.
Education and Experience Information:
- Membership in the New York State Bar is required.
- Special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts are preferred.
- A minimum of three years of successful experience in discovery, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials.
- Experience representing insurance companies is required.
- A JD degree is required.

Salary Information:
- Minimum Salary: USD $94,.
- Maximum Salary: USD $161,.
- Typical Starting Salary: USD $110,000 - $125,000.
- Flexible Time Off Annual Accrual: 20 days.
Additional Information:
- The role is fully remote but requires, on average, two court appearances per week within the territories of Brooklyn, Manhattan, New York, and Staten Island.
