Job Title: Enterprise Applications Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

The Enterprise Applications Engineer is a critical member of the Information Systems Department at the law firm. The primary responsibilities include:

- Daily monitoring, support, and maintenance of existing enterprise-wide applications, such as document management, ethical walls, timekeeping, accounting and billing, information and compliance, and litigation support applications.
- Leading projects related to updating or installing new enterprise-wide applications.
- Monitoring the health of enterprise-wide applications, including error logs, server performance, and memory and processor usage.
- Resolving and responding to Help Desk tickets related to enterprise-wide applications and other applications as needed; noting trends; performing troubleshooting; performing problem management, including escalating to other teams and vendors if necessary.
- Keeping current on patches and releases related to enterprise-wide applications; reviewing release notes; tracking resolutions to existing software problems; and recommending updates to install.
- Leading the testing of new software or new versions of software. Creating and maintaining test environments for each of the enterprise-wide applications, including server specifications and software installations, integrations, and customizations.
- Creating and maintaining testing scripts for all enterprise-wide applications; managing testing teams and procedures; and analyzing test results.
- Acting as the Project Lead for new enterprise-wide applications or updates to existing applications; serving as a project member on projects run by another team member or manager.
- Creating project plans, monitoring deadlines, and project team performance.
- Creating and maintaining production environments for enterprise-wide applications, including server and desktop specifications, client software packaging, server software installations, integrations, and customizations.
- Submitting Change Management forms for approval per IS procedure; scheduling work with vendors; performing installations or upgrades; conducting final testing and close monitoring after installation or upgrade.
- Interfacing with vendors regularly regarding problems, bug fixes, and new software versions.

Additional functions include:

- Maintaining a high level of knowledge in all enterprise-wide applications via release notes, documentation, vendor dialogue, and training classes.
- Acting as a backup for all other applications that may be primarily supported and maintained by others on the Applications team.
- Performing desktop applications packaging, testing, and deployment via SCCM.
- Assisting, teaching, and mentoring Applications Analysts and Administrators on the team.
- Other related job duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:

- A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a major in computer science preferred. A combination of education and prior experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

- A minimum of five years of extensive experience managing enterprise-wide applications, preferably within a law firm.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Deep knowledge of document management, timekeeping, law firm accounting and billing systems, litigation support, ethical walls, and security.
- Infrastructure, server, operating systems, and network communications knowledge.
- Proficient knowledge of desktop operating systems, software, and software packaging practices.
- Deep knowledge of law firm software, procedures, and risk policies.
- Strong ability to install and maintain any enterprise-wide application, including servers, customizations and integrations, load balancing, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Knowledge of SQL server and SQL scripting.
- Knowledge of Microsoft technologies and Group Policy.
- Certification in iManage is preferred.

Salary Information:

The salary range for this position applies to the State of New Jersey. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $110,000 to $140,000.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This job operates in a clerical, office setting, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The role involves sedentary work, requiring exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. The work involves sitting most of the time, with walking and standing often necessary to carry out job duties. The worker is required to have close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
