Are you a Texas student looking for a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the inner workings of Congress? Look no further than Senator Ted Cruz's Internship Program. With two six-week sessions during the summer and full-semester internships in the spring and fall, this program offers a valuable learning experience for motivated and ambitious students.
The internship program is available at multiple office locations, including Washington, ., Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and McAllen. Interns work during normal office hours, Monday through Friday, and are supervised by the Director of their selected office. In addition, interns receive weekly feedback and coaching on their performance, as well as participate in a reading program focused on American history, the role of government, and citizen engagement with elected officials.
This is a highly competitive process, with limited space and resources available. Priority is given to students from Texas or those enrolled in Texas schools who have completed at least their sophomore year of college. To apply, students must submit a cover letter, resume, two letters of recommendation, college transcript, and a college writing sample through the online application. The deadline for fall internships is the first Friday in July.
As an intern in Senator Ted Cruz's office, students will have the opportunity to assist with regional outreach and constituent relations, as well as various office activities. These duties may include answering phones, processing emails and mail, conducting legislative research, and supporting the Service Academy Coordinator. Interns may also be assigned special projects and will receive valuable experience and insight into the day-to-day operations of a Senator's office.
This internship is in-person only, with no remote work option. However, interns in Washington, . may receive a salary, and all interns have the possibility of receiving course credit pending approval by their college or university.
