Unpaid Internship Opportunities with **Members Only**
- Interns will gain real-world experience in social work, psychology, information systems, business management, computer technology, human resources, and legal fields

- Interns will work in various Local and Area Offices, as well as CP&P and DCF Central Offices
- Interns will have the opportunity to work with the Office of Legal and Legislative Affairs, providing assistance with legal research and summarizing court decisions
- Administrative Hearings Unit processes administrative appeals and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Interns will assist with writing Final Agency Decisions and working with the immigration unit to assist clients with immigration issues
- Interested students can submit an inquiry form, but placement is not guaranteed and applications are processed in the order received
- Field coordinators can also submit an inquiry form on behalf of their students
Education Requirements and Application Process

Office of Legal and Legislative Affairs
- Interns will work on a variety of tasks within several units
- Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate professionally are expected
- Interns will assist with legal research and summarizing court decisions
- Administrative Hearings Unit processes administrative appeals
- Interns will assist with writing Final Agency Decisions
- Interns will also work with the immigration unit to assist clients with immigration issues
Office of Legal and Legislative Affairs: Administrative Hearings Unit
- Processes written statewide requests for administrative appeals
- Appeals include substantiated and established findings of abuse/neglect, Office of Licensing actions, relative resource denials, DDD eligibility and service needs, and adoption/KLG subsidy denials
- Ensures that appeals are administered according to applicable laws and regulations
- Interns will assist in the process of reviewing cases and analyzing documentation for court purposes
- Interns will also assist with writing Final Agency Decisions
Office of Legal and Legislative Affairs: Immigration Unit
- Assists Department staff with immigration issues facing the populations they serve
- Provides education to local offices and other Department employees on topics such as special immigrant juvenile status and U-Visas
- Networks with other agencies and stakeholders to ease access to immigration services for clients
