The MTA, headquartered in New York, NY, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Agency General Counsel - MNR. This position offers a competitive salary range of $210,000 - $230,000 and Hay Points of 1560. The successful candidate will have a law degree and admission to the Bar of the State of New York and comparable federal courts, as well as a minimum of 12 years' experience practicing public sector law in New York State.

As the Agency General Counsel, you will provide legal advice and counsel to the MTA General Counsel, President MNR, senior staff, and MTA senior management in all Authority legal matters. You will also serve as the MNR's ethics officer and Corporate Secretary, responsible for protecting and pursuing the legal rights of MNR and advising senior management on legal matters. This position reports to the MTA General Counsel and will serve as the primary Business Advisor to the MNR President.

Responsibilities:

- Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department
- Direct attorneys in providing legal advice and direction to senior staff and management
- Provide guidance and counsel to ensure MNR operates within the law and its legal rights are protected
- Negotiate and maintain service contracts with Connecticut and New Jersey Transit
- Serve as the Authority's Ethics Officer
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

- Law degree and admission to the Bar of the State of New York and comparable federal courts
- Minimum of 12 years' experience practicing public sector law in New York State
- Extensive knowledge of the legal discipline and general knowledge of claims and environmental compliance disciplines
- Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-profile, high-pressure environment
