Job Title: Lead Counsel - Data Privacy, HIPAA, and State Health Privacy Laws
Job Responsibilities:
- Legal Compliance and Advisory: Provide expert advice on data privacy, HIPAA, and state health privacy laws. Collaborate with compliance teams to develop and implement policies ensuring adherence to applicable regulations. Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations, updating company policies as necessary.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess risks related to data privacy and health information security. Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Incident Response: Collaborate on responses to data breaches and other incidents involving health information. Coordinate with relevant departments to investigate and resolve incidents promptly.
- Policy Development: Draft and review company policies related to data privacy and health information security. Ensure that all policies align with current laws and best practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance and address any concerns.
Education and Experience Information:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active membership in good standing with a state bar association.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in healthcare law, focusing on data privacy, HIPAA, and state health privacy laws. Proven track record of managing and advising on complex legal and regulatory issues.
- Skills: Strong understanding of federal and state health privacy laws and regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a healthcare organization or with healthcare clients. Familiarity with technology and cybersecurity issues related to health information.
Salary Information:
- Washington, District of Columbia: The annual salary range for this position is $208,,.
- Bentonville, Arkansas: The annual salary range for this position is $160,,.
- Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and may also include stock options.
