Job Title: 2L Summer Associate IP Patent Prosecution or Disputes

Job Responsibilities:
The 2L Summer Associate will participate in the 2026 Summer Associate Program within the Intellectual Property (Patent Prosecution or Disputes) practice at the law firm. The program is designed to provide summer associates with a realistic introduction to the practice of law and daily life as an associate at the law firm. Responsibilities will include engaging in legal research, drafting documents, and supporting the IP practice group under the guidance of experienced attorneys. The summer associate will work collaboratively with team members to gain practical legal experience and insight into the workings of the firm's Intellectual Property practice.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be second-year JD students and are required to submit a resume, unofficial transcript, and cover letter. An updated unofficial transcript for the spring semester should be provided when available. Additionally, candidates must be eligible to sit for the patent bar, which requires a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or Doctor of Philosophy Degree in a recognized technical subject.

Salary Information:
Employees are entitled to compensation that aligns with their skill and experience. The summer associate salary is determined based on the annualized salary for a first-year associate in the specific market. Specifically, the full-time base annual salary for this position in the Chicago market is anticipated to be $225,000, which equates to approximately $4,327 per week for summer associates in 2026. This salary range reflects the firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting for a position in Chicago.

Additional Information:
The summer associates are expected to commit to at least eight consecutive weeks, but no more than ten weeks, during their time with the firm.
