Job Title: Assistant Attorney General - Workers' Compensation

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Attorney General in the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office is responsible for representing the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Industrial Commission of Ohio. This representation occurs in various judicial settings including common pleas, appellate courts, and the Ohio Supreme Court. The role requires the management of a high-volume caseload and involves several key duties such as:

- Case management and organization
- Evaluating and negotiating settlements
- Engaging in motion practice
- Conducting discovery through written means and depositions
- Appearing in trial and appellate courts
- Occasionally attending administrative hearings
- Writing appellate briefs and engaging in oral advocacy

The position offers a hybrid work schedule that combines in-person and remote work, subject to change based on training and operational needs.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio as per Section of the Ohio Revised Code. The ideal candidates will have at least two years of experience working as an attorney, which is essential for effectively managing the responsibilities associated with this role. The role requires strong skills in legal practice, attention to detail, collaboration, strategic thinking, and effective verbal and written communication.

Salary Information:
Compensation for the Assistant Attorney General position is commensurate with experience. The role is classified as full-time with work hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The position is unclassified and exempt from union membership.
