Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough legal research and review legislative history
- Draft court opinions and orders
- Collaborate closely with the judge and other law clerks
- Assist with citation and quote checking of briefs and court documents
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school, or membership in good standing of the bar of the Supreme Court of Virginia or the highest court of another state
- Working knowledge of trial and appellate court procedures, systems, and rules
- Prior legal, clerkship, or internship experience in various areas of law is a plus
- American citizenship or permanent legal residency and a criminal background check are required
- Exceptional work ethic, time-management skills, and attention to detail
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in legal research and citation, as well as Microsoft Office and online productivity tools
