Job Title: Senior Claims Examiner, New York Labor Law

Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Claims Examiner for New York Labor Law is expected to manage a caseload actively and oversee third-party administrator claims handlers for commercial New York Labor Law cover, liability, and damage claims. Key responsibilities include:

- Identify and assess coverage issues, draft coverage position letters, and retain coverage counsel when necessary. Review coverage counsel's opinion letters and analysis.
- Develop and implement strategies related to coverage issues, liability, and damages that align with the overall case strategy.
- Maintain communication with TPA claim staff, business line leaders, underwriters, defense counsel, program managers, and brokers.
- Conduct claim investigations and review insureds' materials, pleadings, and other relevant documents.
- Identify and review applicable statutes, rules, and case law for each jurisdiction.
- Review litigation materials, including depositions and expert reports.
- Analyze and direct risk transfer, additional insured issues, and contractual indemnity issues.
- Retain counsel when necessary and direct them according to the resolution strategy.
- Analyze coverage, liability, and damages to assess and recommend reserves.
- Prepare and present written/oral reports to senior management, outlining issues influencing evaluation and recommending reserves.
- Travel within the United States for mediations, trials, and other relevant proceedings.
- Negotiate claim resolutions.
- Select and utilize structure brokers.
- Maintain a diary of all claims, post reserves in a timely manner, and respond to inquiries from insured parties, counsel, underwriters, brokers, and senior management.

Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, and a Juris Doctorate degree is preferred.
- Three to five years of experience with commercial accounts, supporting primary and/or excess claims experience handling New York Labor Law claims.
- Experience in Energy Casualty, Construction, and/or Rail is a plus.
- Proper Adjuster Licensing in all applicable states is necessary.
- Willingness and ability to travel 25%.
- This position is a hybrid role requiring two days in the office.

Salary Information:
For individuals assigned or hired to work in NYC, the base salary range is $107,900 - $145,700 per year. The position is incentive-eligible, and total compensation will consider factors such as geographic location, scope and responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability, specialization, and business needs. The pay range may be modified in the future.
