Job Title: Assistant District Attorney - Human Trafficking Unit

Job Responsibilities:
The role of an Assistant District Attorney in the Human Trafficking Unit involves managing a caseload that includes felonies and pre-arrest investigations related to sex and labor trafficking, as well as any criminal activities associated with human trafficking such as drug offenses, robberies, sexual assaults, and financial crimes. The responsibilities include:

- Collaborating with colleagues and supervisors to investigate and strategize complex cases.
- Presenting felony cases to the Grand Jury to secure indictments.
- Working with a multidisciplinary team of crime victims’ advocates and social service providers to assess survivors' needs and connect them with appropriate services.
- Partnering with investigators, forensic scientists, and law enforcement to enhance case investigations.
- Assessing T-Visa applications and motions to vacate convictions for human trafficking survivors.
- Participating in on-call shifts, which may require visiting precincts, hospitals, or Child Advocacy Centers to meet with victims, witnesses, or suspects.
- Attending task force meetings, professional training, community outreach, and educational programming as directed.
- Engaging in law enforcement operations outside standard work hours.
- Staffing courtrooms and making appropriate oral records.
- Handling a high volume of cases efficiently and effectively.
- Collaborating with non-legal staff regarding discovery obligations.
- Responding to complex and novel legal issues both orally and in writing.
- Implementing office policies as directed.
- Performing other duties and projects as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctor degree is required for this position.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience is necessary.
- Candidates must be US citizens and residents of New York State as of their first day of employment.
- Membership in good standing with the NY State Bar is required, and candidates must provide an original current certificate of good standing.
- Candidates should be able to interact comfortably with a diverse population and possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- The ability to handle a high volume of cases and conduct competent investigations is crucial.
- Candidates must demonstrate good judgment, strong ethics, and the ability to solve issues analytically.
- Maintaining confidentiality and excelling in a fast-paced environment are essential.
- Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail are needed.
- Candidates must be available to be on-call during nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Prior experience in forensic interviewing is preferred, but on-the-job training can be arranged.
- Knowledge of the neighborhoods, resources, and population of Bronx County is preferred.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the position of Assistant District Attorney in the Human Trafficking Unit is between $80, and $167,.
