Tax Senior Manager, Core Tax Services - Real Estate Focus
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Senior Manager is primarily responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business decisions, evaluating and selecting strategies to minimize tax burdens and compliance costs, and identifying methods to comply with tax regulations. This role involves acting as the primary client contact for complex tax issues, applying knowledge to understand potential tax issues, and communicating potential risks and changes in tax policy. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Conducting top-level reviews of tax returns and resolving tax issues with clients.
- Planning for early recognition of material tax and compliance issues.
- Identifying and researching complex tax issues, framing them clearly for analysis, and reporting the analysis.
- Applying and helping others apply ASC 740-10 and firm policies regarding tax accruals.
- Assisting with developing, recommending, and implementing methods to maximize client benefits by decreasing current and future taxes.
- Managing written or phone inquiries from federal and state agencies.
- Developing expertise in one or more areas of taxation and possibly conducting external training sessions.
- Introducing and developing new ideas to improve the position of clients or the firm.
- Supervising associates and senior associates, reviewing their work, and providing feedback.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for majors in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- A Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred.
- Eight or more years of relevant tax experience, including public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience, is required.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties is preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is required.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is preferred.
Salary Information:
Individual salaries are determined after considering various factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary ranges for various locations are as follows:
- California: $146,000 - $200,000
- Colorado: $135,000 - $175,000
- Illinois: $140,000 - $190,000
- Maryland: $152,000 - $188,000
- Minnesota: $130,000 - $190,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $175,000 - $205,000
- Washington: $158,400 - $215,400
- Washington DC: $156,000 - $200,000
