Overview
- The **Members Only**’s Bureau of Consumer Protection enforces consumer protection laws to protect against unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent practices.
- The Bureau offers summer law clerk positions to highly motivated second-year law students.
- Each law clerk will work with different divisions within the Bureau, gaining experience in a variety of legal tasks.
- The program is small, with typically eight clerks, to allow for meaningful assignments and mentorship from experienced attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Drafting pleadings, discovery requests and responses
- Appearing at hearings and depositions with Bureau attorneys
- Attending meetings with parties and their outside counsel
- Leading interview calls and summarizing findings through written reports
- Reviewing documents
- Researching a wide range of legal issues
Eligibility
- Must be a . citizen
- Must have completed two years of law school by the start of the summer clerkship
- Must continue legal studies in the fall semester following the clerkship
