Job Title: Assistant General Counsel

Job Responsibilities:
As an Assistant General Counsel for the company, the candidate will be responsible for providing research, legal counsel, recommendations, and alternatives for legal questions and issues in the General Practice Areas, which include consumer and commercial secured installment/lease transactions, revolving credit, related debt collection, litigation, and bankruptcy. Additional responsibilities include:

- Handling banking and payment services, as well as data privacy and information security.
- Drafting and negotiating complex commercial or technology documents, including opinions, contracts, notices, agreements, registrations, and licenses.
- Exploring and assessing legal requirements for new tech tools and AI resources.
- Managing all aspects of litigation and alternative dispute resolution with adverse parties to ensure favorable results.
- Developing and executing training on legal matters for groups of various sizes to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with General Practice Areas legal requirements.
- Staying current on emerging trends in the law in the General Practice Areas through continuing legal education, reading, professional conferences, and participating in professional associations.
- Supporting projects for the company's Global Law Services Group.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates are expected to have:

- A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited . law school and be licensed in Iowa or their state of residence.
- 10 or more years of legal experience and expertise in General Practice Areas laws.
- Broad knowledge of the . credit industry and markets relative to the General Practice Areas.
- The ability to assess and manage risk within the General Practice Areas.
- The ability to anticipate the impact of legal issues and advice on a business and its operations.
- The ability to anticipate potential legal and regulatory issues by watching trends in the law in the General Practice Areas and proactively evaluating proposed and enacted laws and regulations and their impact on a business.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology.
- The ability to lead and influence cross-functionally (tech and non-tech teams) to resolve complicated problems.
- Strong skills in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
