Overview:
The Commission on Judicial Performance is the independent state agency responsible for investigating complaints of judicial misconduct and for disciplining judges. They are currently seeking a Legal (Litigation) Assistant to Trial Counsel at either the I or II level. The successful candidate will be expected to work in the San Francisco office, with the option to work remotely two days a week. Responsibilities:
Under direction, the Legal Assistant to Trial Counsel I/II provides varied, complex and confidential legal secretarial, paralegal and administrative assistance to trial counsel, staff counsel, and the commission, and performs related work as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to:

- Providing legal secretarial, paralegal, and administrative support
- Typing, editing, and proofreading legal documents
- Assisting with preparation for evidentiary hearings
- Maintaining calendars and arranging meetings and depositions
- Conducting legal research and reviewing final legal documents
- Organizing and maintaining an information management system
- Coordinating travel arrangements and assisting with preparation for commission meetings

Qualifications:
- Equivalent to a high school education or four years of legal secretarial experience, with two years of litigation, paralegal, or legal research experience
- Knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and practices
- Familiarity with standard secretarial and administrative office practices and procedures
- Ability to type at least 50 words per minute
- Skilled in the use of legal and other databases
- Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread for accuracy and correct English usage

Pay and Benefits:
- Legal Assistant to Trial Counsel I: $5,923 - $7,202 per month
- Legal Assistant to Trial Counsel II: $6,530 - $7,936 per month
