Job Title: Claims Consultant - Architects and Engineers
Job Responsibilities:
- Handle a caseload of claims-made, commercial Architects & Engineers (A&E) claims, from inception to final disposition.
- Manage litigated A&E matters through resolution and manage defense counsel.
- Conduct investigations, analyze, and evaluate claim information.
- Determine coverage, liability, and damages based on claim facts.
- Communicate written positions on coverage, liability damages, and other issues to insureds and required parties.
- Set and monitor appropriate expense and indemnity reserves, adjusting as necessary.
- Present cases to management for authority on expenses or indemnity reserves above established levels.
- Develop and implement resolution strategies through negotiations for quality outcomes.
- Proactively manage litigation and counsel, including planning, execution, budgeting, and bill review.
- Analyze potential extra-contractual liability as needed.
- Attend trials and mediations when necessary.
- Contribute to broader claim and enterprise goals via audits, projects, training, and product development.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and deliver presentations to senior claim leadership on case developments, policy issues, and industry trends.
- Collaborate with business partners to evaluate and address claim trends and developments.
- Address inquiries from agents and policyholders, providing superior customer service.
- Provide training and marketing support to Underwriters.
- Conduct contract reviews for insureds and brokers.
- Present at various industry events on risk management and claims topics.
- Coordinate quarterly risk management newsletter.
- Organize and present webinars and in-house risk management seminars for high-profile insureds.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years handling litigated coverage and liability of professional liability cases and/or claims required.
- Experience with litigated coverage and liability of architects & engineers cases and/or claims is strongly desired.
- Risk Management Contract Reviews experience is a plus.
- Candidates should be disciplined, results-oriented, and focus on achieving results.
- Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication, strategic thinking, negotiation, and advanced technical claim handling.
- Superior time management, task prioritization, and desk management skills.
- Ability to communicate thoughts clearly and persuasively and work with moderate supervision with a team player attitude.
Salary Information:
- The annualized base pay range for this role is $121,280 - $181,920.
- Actual base pay may vary based on factors such as performance, proficiency, and demonstration of required competencies.
- The base pay is part of the total compensation package, which may include bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
Additional Information:
- The role can be Hybrid or Remote. Candidates near office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Naperville, IL) are expected to work in the office 3 days a week.
- Remote candidates are expected to visit the office as business needs arise.
- Employment is contingent on obtaining and maintaining a State Adjuster's License within 30 business days post-training.
- High-speed broadband internet service is required for remote positions, with specific requirements for internet speed and setup.
