Job Title: Compliance Counsel (Remote)
Job Responsibilities:
The Compliance Counsel will be a vital part of the Legal & Compliance team at the company, specifically focusing on compliance-related legal advisory services for company group companies throughout North America. The role involves a range of responsibilities that include:
- Conducting compliance trainings and creating original training materials to educate management and stakeholders on Core Compliance topics.
- Engaging proactively with the management of company companies and other key stakeholders in North America to enhance their awareness of Core Compliance Topics and support the implementation of the Compliance Program.
- Developing original compliance communications such as policies, articles, guidelines, templates, posters, and presentations, particularly on topics specific to the US and Canada.
- Providing legal advice on Core Compliance topics, including due diligence of business partners, commercial contracts, major projects, and the integration of compliance in business processes like sales, procurement, and HR.
- Performing risk assessments and leading format workshops to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Reviewing and approving corporate social responsibility activities, major projects, and other transactions that require Compliance approval according to internal guidelines.
- Documenting Compliance Program activities and preparing internal reports for the Corporate Headquarters.
- Managing relationships with external counsel to ensure compliance with legal standards and practices.
Education and Experience Information:
Education and License:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- A valid US bar license.
Required Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of compliance-relevant legal experience, gained at a law firm, government, or in-house at an international company.
- Focus on at least two of the following areas: Antitrust, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Sanctions, Export Controls (EAR/ITAR), Data Privacy & Protection.

- Knowledge or background in industrial manufacturing, automotive industry, metals distribution and trading, and/or EPC (chemical or cement) is a plus, but not required.
Working Conditions:
- The position offers flexibility to work fully remote or in a hybrid model using office space at the TKNA subsidiary in the Troy area of Michigan.
- The candidate must be able to travel to the Chicagoland area quarterly and to various group company locations in the US and Canada as needed for compliance activities. Travel to Germany may be required annually or biennially.
Salary Information:
- The position offers a competitive salary ranging from 130,000 to 140,000 USD yearly.
