Job Title: Life Sciences Patent Law Clerk/Patent Agent
Job Responsibilities:
- Preparing, drafting, and filing new patent applications and other patent prosecution documents.
- Conducting client technology and patent portfolio assessments.
- Supporting business development.
- Assisting patent attorneys with the global prosecution of complex patent families.
- Managing large domestic and foreign dockets.
Education and Experience Information:
- A . with significant graduate-level experience is required.
- Patent Law Clerk candidates must be eligible to take and pass the Patent Bar within eighteen months of hire. Prior patent prosecution experience is desired but not necessary.
- Patent Agent candidates must have a minimum of one year of patent prosecution experience and possess a USPTO bar registration number or have already passed the Patent Bar and are awaiting admission.
- Broad training in the biological sciences is sought, with expertise in fields such as plant biology, biochemistry, genetics, chemistry, microbiology, entomology, immunology, or chemical engineering highly preferred.
- Research experience or training in areas like RNA silencing, genome editing, nucleic acids chemistry, antibody design and production, microbiomes, quantitative genetics, process and reactor design, separation technologies, medicinal chemistry, or small molecule synthesis is desirable.
- Excellent academic credentials and references, as well as strong writing skills, are required.
- The candidate must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and follow up on instructions independently.
- The ability to prioritize and manage time effectively while working in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organization, problem-solving, and communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
- The candidate must have the ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and provide exceptional client service both internally and externally.
Salary Information:
- The anticipated base salary for this position is $120,000 to $160,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on various factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and, if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
- Benefits include a competitive salary and a tuition reimbursement program when applicable.
- The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
