Job Title: District Staff Attorney - Intake Division

Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate criminal felony cases and coordinate with law enforcement agencies.
- Make appropriate charging decisions and draft charging language for cases.
- Prepare cases for presentation to the grand jury.
- Work independently on individual cases while coordinating screening and intake assignments within the department.
- Draft complaints and indictments for legal proceedings.
- Screen cases submitted by law enforcement officials.
- Evaluate and review evidence, reports, and recordings related to cases.
- Determine appropriate criminal charges based on the available evidence.
- Advise law enforcement and investigators when further investigation is necessary.
- Conduct legal research by reading and studying case law.
- Comply with discovery requirements as part of legal procedures.
- Represent the State in District Court during legal proceedings.

Education and Experience Information:
- Requires graduation from an accredited Law School.
- Must be admitted to the practice of law in the State of Texas.
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years of litigation or prosecutorial experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- Requires a license to practice law in the State of Texas.
