Job Title: Tax Manager, Alternative Investments
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Manager, Alternative Investments is responsible for providing tax compliance and consulting services to clients involved in Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and Real Estate. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring clients comply with all applicable tax authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens. This includes ensuring that both the client service teams and the manager themselves adhere to company policies, standards, and the **Members Only** Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
- Applying an understanding of each client’s unique circumstances, documentation, and legal requirements to prepare required filings, such as tax returns, ensuring full compliance while keeping the tax and reporting burdens as low as possible.
- Collecting all necessary data to comply with filing requirements and properly communicating any missing items needed to prepare tax returns.
- Utilizing company compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process.
- Collaborating effectively with Principals, Tax Seniors, and Associates to complete projects, following up with open items as necessary.
- Delivering high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
- Leading complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.
- Managing the engagement process, including billing, collections, and budgeting for projects.
- Building and managing client relationships and ensuring client work and conclusions are documented in the client tax file.
- Assisting with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.
- Managing and mentoring teams of Tax Seniors and Associates.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required, with a focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred. A Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of relevant tax experience and/or experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services is required.
- Experience in the Financial Services industry, particularly supporting Alternative Investment funds such as Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships is preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
Licenses/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is required. Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is beneficial.
Software Skills:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and proficiency in tax compliance process software is preferred.
