Job Title: Associate Corporate Counsel

Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Corporate Counsel in the Litigation Department is primarily responsible for providing legal support and strategic advice related to extra-contractual and bad faith matters. The role involves working closely with AmTrust’s claims organizations, including specialty, core, property, and workers' compensation claims. Key responsibilities include:

- Consulting with the claims department to respond to time-sensitive settlement demands and policy limit demands.
- Managing a national portfolio of extra-contractual matters.
- Conducting coverage analysis and addressing concerns related to bad faith and extra-contractual issues.
- Performing legal research and providing conclusions and recommendations on coverage issues and claims handling decisions, particularly concerning bad faith and extra-contractual exposure.
- Analyzing claims, underwriting, and litigation data to identify areas for improvement.
- Presenting complex issues to upper management within the Claim, Litigation, and Underwriting Departments.
- Advising on additional investigations necessary to resolve coverage and extra-contractual concerns.
- Communicating with stakeholders in Underwriting, Regulatory, Audit, Compliance, and Corporate Legal.
- Collaborating with outside counsel to develop proactive litigation and pre-suit strategies, as well as managing case strategy, budget, and legal documentation.
- Assisting with litigation holds and electronic stored information (ESI) collections.

Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in liability coverage and/or extra-contractual matters, either in-house or at a law firm.
- Strong understanding of national coverage and extra-contractual/bad faith law.
- Ability to independently gather information and navigate within a large company.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Basic proficiency in Excel.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the Associate Corporate Counsel position is $110,000 to $145,000 per year. This range is specifically applicable for positions performed in New York. The base pay offered may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, and sales or revenue-based metrics. The salary range may be subject to modification in the future.
