Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Washington, DC, is seeking a skilled associate attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join its Data Privacy and Cybersecurity practice. This role involves advising clients across diverse industries on data protection, digital compliance, and information security issues arising in the context of corporate transactions, including M&A, public offerings, and commercial technology deals.
Duties:
Provide strategic legal advice on data privacy, cybersecurity, and information governance
Support M&A, capital markets, and commercial technology transactions from a privacy perspective
Draft and negotiate data processing agreements, privacy policies, and contractual provisions
Advise on regulatory risk, policy developments, and enforcement trends involving data use
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams handling complex and high-profile corporate deals
Monitor emerging technologies and evolving laws related to digital compliance and cybersecurity
Requirements:
3-5 years of legal experience with a focus on privacy, cybersecurity, or transactional work
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and similar laws
Background in mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, or technology transactions
Exposure to AI, cloud services, fintech, or other innovative technology sectors is a plus
Prior work on matters involving . or international regulatory bodies is desirable
Education:
Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
Strong academic performance is required
Certifications:
CIPP or equivalent privacy certification is beneficial
Skills:
Excellent research, drafting, and analytical skills
Clear and persuasive verbal and written communication abilities
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time-management capabilities
