Job Responsibilities:
The 2L Summer Associate position offers a nine- to ten-week clerkship providing candidates with hands-on experience in the daily life of a law firm attorney. The role includes meaningful career development, network building, and an in-depth mentorship experience. Summer Associates will be integrated into the firm's operations, working alongside seasoned attorneys to gain practical legal experience. The position is available in multiple offices, including Austin, Charlotte, Dallas, Dallas-North, Denver, Houston, New York, Northern Virginia, Orange County, and San Francisco.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be rising second-year law students with strong academic credentials. Applicants are required to submit a resume, cover letter, and transcript, with an unofficial version being acceptable. However, candidates must provide a full transcript upon receipt. Those interested in intellectual property (IP) law should have an academic background or relevant work experience in engineering, computer science, or physics, and are required to submit an undergraduate transcript.
Salary Information:
The role provides scholarship opportunities in addition to the paid summer clerkship. The scholarship funds aim to support outstanding students in law school through financial aid and mentorship experiences. For 2L students, there is an opportunity to receive up to $40,000 in scholarship funds to assist with school-related expenses. The scholarship payments are structured as follows:
- $10,000 if the candidate receives and accepts the 1L summer offer
- $25,000 if the candidate receives and accepts the 2L summer offer
- $15,000 if the candidate receives and accepts the First-Year Associate offer
The potential total scholarship amount is $50,000.
Additional Information:
The application process includes the completion of the Suited Assessment, which is mandatory for all candidates and aims to evaluate candidates beyond traditional hiring metrics. Information regarding the assessment's measurements, data retention policies, and how to request reasonable accommodations can be found through provided resources. Candidates who have completed the assessment in prior recruiting cycles or for another law firm are not required to retake it. The results of the AEDT bias audit, as required under New York City Local Law 144, are available on the firm's website.
